Announcing A Celebration Of Jazz By Local Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus Jazz Artists:

DAYTON, OHIO --- Jazz Advocate announces the finale of its annual 2004 fall membership drive will take place on Monday, October 11th from 8 to 11 pm at Jazz Central, located at 2931 E Third Street in Dayton, Ohio; admission at the door is $5 for members and $10 for non-members (which includes your yearly Jazz Advocate membership).

A very special celebration of jazz will take place in our area and you’re encouraged to come out, take part and join in the Jazz Advocate movement.  We have invited many of our jazz artist friends to participate in a demonstration to the public that jazz is indeed back in our part of the country.  This event will be unlike anything you’ve experienced before; this will be an exhibition to showcase the large number of talented jazz people in our area; an exhibition of the many different jazz styles in our area; an exhibition of how jazz players who have never met can come together and jam.  You won't want to miss it.  It's the first semi-annual Jazz Advocate’s “Celebration Of Jazz.” There'll be four bands --- Rick Evans and The Masters Of Jazz, John Slates Organ Quartet, Chris Bowman’s Time Travelers and Deron Bell's Jazz For You Band and a killer jam session afterwards with artists from Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus and beyond.  With players like Greg Abate, Marc Fields, Ed Clay and Johnny Mack as well as singers like Miss Teresa, April Aloisio and Tammy Powel who have indicated they’re coming.  A party like never before, we intend to show the public we have some of the best jazz right here in our own backyard.  Of course all jazz musicians and singers get in free and there will also be a sep-up for selling their CDs during the event.
