I'm
not sure if I should be writing this. As of late, it seems that any
little thing that you say can be construed to be anti-patriotic, and
from there one can easily be branded as a traitor to homeland security.
I am afraid that our right to free speech is being abridged, right
in front of our faces. But forging ahead, I want to ask some questions
about "Taliban John." This guy, John Walker left the USA, and joined
the Taliban Army. I don't know if he was aware of the fact that the
Taliban had suddenly considered to be at war with the United States,
and I'm not sure that it matters. In my mind, a US citizen should
be free to renounce his citizenship, walk away from the country and
fight for whatever terrorist organization that he sees fit. As long
as he doesn't take any state secrets with him, and as long has no
plans to return to the USA, does he not have a right to defect? If
he wants to play grab ass with the enemy, can't we just shoot him
on the battlefield or sweat him in a POW camp. Why do we get to try
him for crimes against the state, when the worst that he has probably
done is offered aid and comfort to a hot-blooded Arab, in a foxhole.
I
thought that we were fighting to preserve our way of life, but if
our way of life does not provide for a man's right to give it all
up, can any of us afford to even question the Bush administration,
period?
