| Police Protective League is Minor League |
. One of the major complaints being levied by the PD is that their morale is down. Who told them that they had a "right" to like and be happy with their jobs? Lots of people hate their jobs, and their bosses. What they do is find another job, where they can be happy. They aren't allowed to change the management style to suit their heart's desires. I'm confused. I recently heard Mitzi Grasso, president of the LA Police Protective League, on a radio talk show. Her statement was that the police league does not support Chief Parks because he will not collaborate with officers, and work with them to make the LAPD a safe police department.
Excuse me... why does he have to collaborate with officers? I thought that he was the CHIEF of police, and was supposed to "Tell" officers what to do. Ms. Grasso expects the Chief to work with them, but I expect her to work for the Chief. She is not running the LAPD, and neither is Chief Gates, whom I assume she would rather be working for.
Oh I'm sorry. Did I just profile her? Did I just assume that since some officers are in fact criminals, that they all are, and that they should all be pulled over and investigated every once in a while. I also profile Chief Parks, and assume that he follows whatever code of blue exists. So I have not been all that supportive of him either. BUT. I believe in "Rank and File." I believe that Management should manage, and that subordinates should shut up and follow department policy, or resign, and go to work for a department, whose policies they like better.
If the PD catches me breaking an existing law, (or claim that they did) I will get arrested. But they don't want to follow their department laws, and rules. Rather than work within the department to effect policy changes, they prefer to keep changing chiefs until they get one that will not enforce the rules
The LAPPL is playing games with the numbers. They claimed that 90% of the rank and file does not support the chief, but the facts are, that only 69% of the rank and file even bothered to vote on the issue, unless their ballots ended up in Florida somewhere… Since about 53% of the LAPPL are former Chief Gates supporters - we can bet that 100% of them voted against Chief Parks.
