JUDGING JUDY

So. I'm watching Judge Judy.
I love me some Judy. She's opinionated, and won't take any nonsense, 1but...
The show that caused me to turn her off went like this:
A guy walks into a room carrying an infant in his arms, and a little dog was in the room and started snapping at his legs. He tried to shoo the dog back, but the animal was persistent, and kept nipping at his ankles. So. He kicked the dog. Perhaps a bit harder than he meant to, but he said that he didn't want the dog to keep sweating him and make him drop the baby.
The dog was jacked, as a result of the kick and in spite of $3000 worth of vet assistance he did not survive. It was one of those little dogs, only as big as an average cat. Judge Judy found him responsible for the $3G's. According to her, this dog was so small that his bite would not have been a major bite, and that he overreacted to the whole thing.
I was crushed. I thought Judge Judy had good sense. I expected her to find that the owner of the dog was "stupid" to have paid a vet $3000 to heal a $500. dog when death was eminent. The dog should have been humanly put to sleep. This guy was not only protecting himself, but also his infant child, who could have been gravely injured if dropped. Who knows, once the baby was on the ground, this little dog might have bitten the child a few times. Besides. Even a little bite from one of those little dogs can be painful, and require stitches. The dog could have bitten through a nerve, a major artery in the leg, the Achilles, or the bite, no matter how small, could have set up an infection. None of this was worth risking, if the dog was intent upon biting. I would have kicked him across the room, too. I would kick YOU across the room, if YOU attacked me. But in that case it would have been deemed self defense, in every court in America, and you would just be a dead man/woman. Not so when it's a cute little doggie. I guess Judge Judy is a tree hugging animal loving zealot. This is cool, but not on the bench.
Here is my other "pet peeve" concerning this incident. The guy said in passing, "If I had $3000. I would buy myself a car…" Judy did not hear this. We have a young man trying to support an infant son, who can't even afford to buy his family any transportation, and Judy wants him to pay somebody for a dog's medical bills, with the money, if he gets it. I think that's tantamount to child abuse, on Judy's head, or at least deranged indifference, and child endangering. Well, at least if she's busy playing a Judge on TV she's not out there judging real crimes, involving real lives.
