The Middle Eastern Question |
The struggle in the Middle East goes back far beyond our limited memories. It's been said that Iraq is the geographic home of the Garden of Eden. Arabs have been at each other's throats since the dawn of time. Jews are just Arabs. Palestinians are just Arabs. They were Arabs before there was Judaism, and before there was Islam. They are all the decedents of Abraham. They have always fought and they will probably always fight.
America has made the mistake of choosing sides, and seeing the Jewish - Arabian problem in terms of our familiar, age old black and white issue, and they have "decided" that the Jews are white. Until America is prepared to go into Israel and kick everybody's butt and appoint a military governor, the problem will escalate into something truly ugly, and it will have been our fault because we won't get out of the way and allow them to finish each other.
Before you say it, I am not an anti-Semite. Perez had a chance of keeping this from getting out of control, but Sharon is a terrorist. Arafat is a terrorist. America is too soft. The only way that we can ensure peace is to enforce peace.
As Forrest Gump would say "That's all I have to say about that..."
