Speaking of Ron Isley. His new
single on the Dreamworks Record label revives his Mr. Biggs
character in anot her
charming Hip Hopera with R. Kelly. The
lyrics describe an OG (original
gangster - for the ebonically impaired), rolling the
boulevard in his SIX (a vintage
1960's automobile for the ebonically impaired). He's
desperately seeking his missing lady. Finally he
gives up and goes home, only to to discover that she
is already there, in between the sheets with a young THUG
(a new gangster for the ebonically impaired). A
serious argument takes place in his bedroom, but
although he is strapped (armed...), he allows the two
lovers to leave the place, before he has to
catch a case. ( become charged with a
crime).
Even though he was played,
dissed, and punked, he managed to do the logical
thing and refused to allow the situation to further
damage his life, by facing possible murder charges,
and lived to love another day. The record has topped
the charts, even being spotlighted on the Jay Leno
show. The best part is that Ron Isley, the same
artist that entertained my mother, back in the 50's
with "Twist and Shout" is now
entertaining my grandson, with grace, elegance, and
what we can call, a semblance of morality.
Entertainers. Rappers. Artists.
Song Writers, and Producers. Entertainment Company
Executives, and Award shows. There is money to be
made and an audience to be serviced without the
extremely toxic, noxious and contagious lyrical
content that we as grown folks have allowed to
prevail. And as I've said before - I'm calling
everybody out. Let sanity prevail and find something else to talk about. |
