Creation

I had an epic argument with a couple of my associates the other day. We've argued it before, of course. The subject was Darwinism vrs Creationism. The one brother (who will remain nameless) believes in the literal rendition of history as presented by the book of Genesis. He believes that man sprang forth from the dirt, at the swipe of GOD's mighty and all controlling hand. Buddy number two has staked out the other pole. He says that creation is bunk, and believes the species known as man is the result of untold years of evolution from the ameba, to the fish, to the reptile, to the monkey, to the character that we now know and love.
I believe that chemical reactions, spawned the deoxyribonucleic acid that resulted in us. So I guess that would seem to place me in the Darwinist camp. But that would be the wrong assumption. The truth as I know it is totally shroud in the power of GOD. In my world, GOD put into place (or engineered, for you science buffs) a series of natural laws. These natural laws dictated the way that heat, cold, radiation, gravity or whatever may have reacted with other matter, placed in it's path by GOD. Those reactions were perhaps known in advance by GOD, but that hardly matters since they were allowed to react and proceed as they would.
We are in most cases, invested in the idea that "we" are GOD's greatest creation, and that GOD is dutifully watching over our every move. On the face of it this idea seems suspect. Under my scheme, with the natural laws in place, we have been allowed to evolve into GOD's greatest creation (to-date) and our every move is guided by the aforementioned natural laws. Since we place ourselves at the center of the universe, we naturally expect GOD to think so, also. As we now visualize him, it begs the question - "Did we make GOD or did GOD make us.."
I wish this was my quote, but it wasn't I hope that it does put things into perspective. "We are the creation for which GOD was created."1
