Jefferson Township Senior ReviewIt was late one fall, in 1969 when the J.T. Review and The Young Underground did an after school concert in the auditorium of Colonel White High School. At the time the Young Underground was Norman and Vincent Beavers, Kenny Renfro, and Harvey Lee Ellison singing and doing the James Brown. I was at the concert with Ronnie Crutcher Michael Beach and George Marshall (The original Stone Soul Image). We had been struggling, that day with a plan to gain more popularity. We were thinking about the Football or Wrestling team.
During the concert, "Harv-Ellis" did a James Brown split and busted his pants. True showman that he was, he simply turned around and pulled the split wide open, revealing his drawls to the crowd. The girls got to screaming and falling out, and me and Ronnie knew what we must do. We went straight home and formed our first singing group (The Nouvelles) because we had discovered that "Singing Was A Great Way, To Catch Chicks."
