Flagg BrothersAlright. I don't usually share this with anybody, but it's too good of a story to keep it a secret any longer.
I bought my first pair of Flagg Brother's shoes as a freshman at Colonel White H.S., in Dayton, Ohio. At the time I wore a 9 1/2, so that's what I ordered from the catalog. I bought a real nice pair of black platform shoes with 3 inch heels. When they arrived, I was styling for real. As time went on, I became a regular customer, buying a new pair of Flagg Brother platforms, whenever I needed a new color, or raised some more cash. Over time, I noticed that my tolerance for high heeled platform shoes was waning. I just didn't seem to be getting used to walking, dancing or doing choreography in heels, but a man had to stay stylish so I toughed it out.
Finally, by '73, platform shoes went out of style, and I decided to go over to Wendell's Bootery, to buy my next pair of fits. The salesman sat me down, and wrapped that shoe sizer around my foot. I was wearing an 11. Since I had been ordering from the catalog for so long, it never occurred to me to get my foot measured now and again. That's why my dogs were killing me. I was squeezing my #11 into a 9 1/2. This is a pure example of growing pains...
